What are Instagram carousel posts?

There can be no more than 10 slides in an Instagram carousel. And with the new update, you can now delete just one slide from a carousel post without having to delete the whole post. A carousel can have slides that are both still and moving. Some people have Direct Messaged me to say that when they deleted the first picture in the carousel, they missed the insights of the post. I haven’t had a chance to try this out and see how it works yet. Carousels are a great way for people to connect with you, whether you’re an Instagram creator or a small business. Do you know what a carousel post design that is “seamless” means? Use Photoshop to make Instagram carousel

Install Adobe Photoshop on your system and select Create new on the initial screen to begin. The maximum height of an Instagram post is 1350 pixels by 1080 pixels, so enter 1350 into Height. Instagram expert’s Mohit Bansal Chandigarh suggests depending on how many swipes you want your carousel to have, multiply that figure (i.e. your swipes) by 1080 and enter that amount into Width. For this example, I need four swipes, so I multiply four by 1080, which gives me 4320.

Make sure the drop-down box next to “Width” says “Pixels.” When you’re ready to move on, click “Create.”

Open Your Images

Next, open all of the pictures you want to use in your carousel. To open them, go back to the menu bar, click “File” and then “Open.” Choose the photo you want to open and click “Open.” Repeat this step for each picture you want to add.

Bring Images To Base

Notice that your base layer is now the first tab, and your other images are in the tabs that come after it. Click on the first picture you see in the tabs. At the bottom right of this picture, hover the cursor well over the background layer, click and hold the mouse button, and then move the image so that it floats over your base layer. When you move your mouse over the base layer, the carousel document will come to the front. Put the background layer on top of the base layer.

Next, go to “Photoshop>Preferences” in the main menu at the top and choose “Guides, Grids, and Slices.” This will bring up the screen where you can set your preferences. Make sure that “Gridline Every” is set to 100 and Percent in the Grid section. Now, think back to how many swipes you chose at first. Put that number in the “Subdivisions” box and then click OK.

Snap Your Grid

You will want the photos on your Base Layer to “snap” to the grid you just made as you move them around. Snapping will show you where the end of EACH photo in your carousel will be. To turn on snapping, go to the main menu and choose “View” > “Snap To.” Make sure the box next to “Grid” is checked.

  • Keep it brief.

Don’t put an entire paragraph on one slide. Write no more than two or three sentences on a single slide. People, including me, have very short attention spans, so it’s best to say what you want to say as quickly as possible. If you’re not able to cut short the content, divide it into separate carousels. Try to break it up.
